Change 5 Things to Lower Blood Pressure

Hypertension is now a major problem in our society today, all over the world there are people that have high blood pressure and are totally unaware of the fact. Many end up suffering for this in the long term and many end up on medication. This condition seems to be getting more and more wide spread and may be that has something to do with the modern society and its habits.

The fast food industry is booming and many eat processed foods for speed and ease, on top of this many do not do any kind of regular exercise. So this modern world seems to be getting more and more unhealthy and is this the reason for so much hypertension.

Lets look at 5 changes that can be made in any persons life that can have a positive effect on their health and most importantly can help lower blood pressure.

  1. Alcohol and Cigarettes: The people that like a drink and a smoke will not like this one, but it has to be covered, because they both have an immediate affect on our heart rate. Alcohol is not a major problem as long as it is consumed sensibly and effects some people more than others. If you consume to much then try to cut down. Smoking over time can cause damage to the arteries among other health problems. Both of these will raise the blood pressure, Cutting them out or significantly reducing them will help lower it.

  2. Body Weight: This is an important one and another thing that seems to be on the rise across the world. To many people are overweight for their height and just by losing several pounds in weight can have a significant affect on reducing hypertension, this is something that everyone that is overweight can do without to much trouble, just cutting down on the calorie intake is a first simple step, we do not have to starve ourselves, just cut down.

  3. Stress Relief: This is something that affects a lot of people some more than others, we all get stressed out at times and some of us far to often. We need to calm ourselves down on a regular basis, just taking 10 or 15 minutes a day relaxing and slowing down our breathing can help us to escape to much stress and in turn this will help lower our heart rate. All of us can spare this small amount of time to do this simple exercise.

  4. Healthy Diet: As I have mentioned above, there is so much convenience food available to make our lives easier that we seem to have forgotten about fresh food and our diets have lost the healthy factor. Eating more freshly prepared meals that contain fresh vegetables and also consuming a good amount of fresh fruit on a regular basis will not only help us to be generally more healthy but will help in lowering our blood pressure. Especially cutting down on fatty things and salt which are said to be an abundant ingredient of processed foods.

  5. Physical Activity: Get active, we should be doing some form of exercise around four times a week, it does not matter what kind you do as long as you get your heart working that little bit harder then you are going to improve your whole cardiovascular system. Exercise is important for our hearts and our muscle structure and does not have to be boring, there are so many activities that can be done with friends and family that will pass as exercise that you can have fun while getting fit. Always consult your Doctor before starting any exercise routine.

All of the 5 changes above can have a significant affect on our whole body, we will become fitter and healthier, we will benefit from more energy and feel less stressed, but above all we can reduce our blood pressure and avoid the dangers that this can pose to our body over time. We need to take a good look at our current lifestyles and if need be make some of or all of the 5 changes above and then enjoy the difference they can make to our lives.
